Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-above) energy healing practice that helps restore balance and harmony in the body, mind, and spirit.

The word “Reiki” comes from Japanese: “Rei” meaning universal or spiritual wisdom, and “Ki” meaning life force energy. Reiki is essentially universal life energy—the same natural energy that flows through all living things.

Where Does It Come From?

Reiki was developed in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who created a system of energy healing that combined meditation, hands-on healing, and spiritual principles. Since then, it has spread across the world as a deeply respected and effective wellness practice—used in hospitals, holistic clinics, and private healing spaces alike.

How Can Reiki Help Me?

Reiki supports your body’s natural ability to heal by clearing energetic blockages, calming the nervous system, and encouraging deep rest. Many people experience:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Relief from physical pain or tension

  • Emotional balance and clarity

  • Improved sleep and mood

  • A deeper connection to self and spirit

Reiki works gently, yet deeply—meeting you exactly where you are and offering what you need most in the moment. Whether you're navigating stress, healing from trauma, or simply seeking more peace, Reiki creates the space for healing to unfold naturally.

How to prepare for a Reiki session:

By following these simple steps, you’ll create the best conditions to receive the full benefits of Reiki healing.

1

Set Your
Intentions

Take a few moments to reflect on what you’d like to gain from the session—stress relief, emotional healing, clarity, or general well-being.

2

Hydrate & Eat Lightly

Drink plenty of water before your session to support energy flow. Avoid heavy meals or caffeine right before, as they may make you feel sluggish or restless.

3

Dress
Comfortably

Wear loose, comfortable clothing to promote relaxation. Avoid restrictive clothing or accessories that may distract you during
the session.

4

Arrive in

a Calm State

If possible, take a few deep breaths or meditate for a few minutes before the session.Try to avoid stressful activities or rushing beforehand.

5

Communicate

Any Needs

Let your Reiki practitioner know if you have any physical discomforts, sensitivities, or areas of focus. Mention any emotional or energetic concerns you’d like to address.

6

Be Open to the Experience

Reiki works in subtle ways—some people feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation, while others may simply feel at peace. Let go of expectations and allow the energy to flow where it is needed.

7

Plan for Post-Session Integration

Give yourself time after the session to relax and process any shifts in energy. Continue drinking water and practice self-care to extend the benefits of the session.

  • Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing technique that originated in Japan. The word “Reiki” means “universal life energy.” It’s based on the idea that energy flows through all living things, and when that energy is low or blocked, it can lead to stress or illness. Reiki helps to restore balance and promote healing on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

  • I, your Reiki practitioner - will channel energy through my hands, either gently touching or hovering just above your body. This helps clear energetic blocks and restore flow—like recharging your inner battery and supporting your body’s natural healing processes.

  • Reiki isn’t a religion and doesn’t require any specific beliefs. It's spiritual in the sense that it works with energy and the subtle body, but people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and belief systems use it for wellness and balance.

  • Not at all. While being open and relaxed can help you tune in more to the experience, Reiki doesn’t require belief to be effective. Many people who are skeptical at first still report feeling deeply relaxed or noticing shifts after a session.

  • Reiki is often used for stress reduction, pain relief, anxiety, sleep issues, emotional healing, and to support recovery during illness or after trauma. It’s also used for overall wellbeing, personal growth, and clarity.

  • You’ll lie down fully clothed on a massage table in my A-Frame Reiki studio. I will lightly place my hands on or just above your body in specific positions, and you simply relax and let the energy flow. Just wear something comfortable that helps you relax.

  • Everyone experiences it differently. You might feel warmth, tingling, gentle waves of energy, or deep relaxation. Some people see colors or feel emotional releases. And some feel very little during the session but notice shifts afterward.

  • Most people prefer to stay quiet to fully relax, but you’re welcome to speak up if something feels uncomfortable or if you have questions. It’s your session.

  • You can book a 60 min session, just plan on some extra time for questions before/after.

  • Most people feel deeply relaxed or even lighter after a session. Occasionally, you might feel tired or emotional as your body processes the energy shifts. Drinking water and resting can help with integration.

  • You might feel more calm, clear-headed, energized, or emotionally balanced. Some people experience insights or emotional releases in the hours or days that follow.

  • It varies from person to person. Some people feel the benefits for days or weeks, and others come in regularly to maintain the balance. Think of it like energetic maintenance—kind of like massage or meditation.

  • Yes, sometimes. Reiki can help release stuck emotions or past experiences held in the body. This can feel freeing, but it’s important to be gentle with yourself afterward.

  • That depends on your goals. One session can be powerful on its own, but for ongoing issues, a few sessions might be more beneficial. Many people come weekly or monthly as part of their wellness routine.

  • It’s totally personal. Some come once a week, others once a month or as needed. If you're working through something specific, more frequent sessions can help.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. You’ll want to be cozy enough to relax deeply.

  • Yes, but try not to eat a heavy meal right before. A light snack or small meal is fine.

  • Yes, I offer "Distance Reik" as well, which can be just as effective. Energy isn’t limited by physical space, and clients often report strong experiences even over Zoom or phone.
